Chicago, IL, September 24, 2007 – WiChorus, the developer of the industry’s most scalable, Intelligent Access Services Network (ASN) gateway, and Sequans Communications, a leading supplier and developer of fixed and mobile WiMAX semiconductor solutions, today announced the successful completion of interoperability testing (IOT) between WiChorus’ Intelligent ASN gateway and Sequans’ Mobile WiMAX base station reference design. Throughout the testing process, WiChorus and Sequans demonstrated seamless end-to-end connectivity between Sequans’ base-station technology platform and WiChorus’ Intelligent ASN Gateway, based on the R6 interface within the WiMAX Forum’s NWG 1.0 Specification. [Editor’s note: WiChorus and Sequans will be demonstrating their joint solutions in booth #439 at the WiMAX World Conference in “Sequans believes that offering a pre-integrated, pre-validated solution provides exceptional value to our base-station customers by decreasing their product development time and consequently their time to market,” said Bernard Aboussouan, vice president of marketing and business development, Sequans. “By working with WiChorus to ensure open standards and complete interoperability, we can create a vendor-neutral environment that encourages companies to work together to create more efficient networks.” “WiChorus and Sequans are working to transform a traditionally closed wireless core into an open, horizontal model that spurs innovation, competition and provides more choices for carriers,” said Rehan Jalil, CEO of WiChorus. “We’ll continue to work with all industry-leading providers in this market to ensure that our best-in-class Intelligent ASN Gateway interoperates seamlessly in WiMAX networks, creating an environment optimized for rapid service deployment and delivery.” The One Open WiMAX initiative is accelerating the availability of WiMAX Forum compliant infrastructure equipment, ensuring service providers have the option to combine best-of-breed equipment to build their networks. WiChorus is making the goal of an open ecosystem a reality through its participation in the WiMAX Forum and its industry-leading One Open WiMAX initiative. The goal of this vendor-neutral initiative is to ensure fully open WiMAX standards, including the adoption of a single open R6 interface, and demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability across the entire mobile ecosystem. To achieve this, WiChorus has invested significant R&D resources in providing test and simulation tools, advanced test lab facilities, and software components to assist leading vendors such as Sequans deliver fully interoperable, open, Mobile WiMAX solutions WiChorus and Sequans will continue to work together on a joint IOT program to ensure that the mobile WiMAX experience is simplified and seamless for partners, vendors, and mobile operators.
