WiChorus Smart GGSN

The exponential growth of mobile broadband data has changed the functional and performance requirements of the Mobile Packet Core for HSPA and HSPA+ networks, as well as their deployment models. This rapid growth in mobile broadband traffic has direct implications on operational cost and profitability of mobile networks.  WiChorus Smart GGSN is purpose-built to improve the profitability of HSPA and HSPA+ networks, in addition to providing a future-proof path to LTE PDN Gateway on the same 4G platform.

WiChorus Smart GGSN, built on powerful SmartCore 4G platforms, is designed to address today’s HSPA/HSPA+ and tomorrow’s LTE mobile packet core needs.  SmartCore platforms provide high multi-dimensional performance, cross-layer optimizations to reduce OPEX and content monetization capabilities to generate new revenues.  Using the direct tunnel support, WiChorus Smart GGSN can also enable a flat network architecture, which can reduce the number of functional elements in your 3G network’s data path, reduce CAPEX, reduce latency and increase overall network performance.

Adopting to Flat Future:

As recognized by 3GPP Rel 8 (LTE) and WiMAX, the mobile broadband requires a flatter network.  WiChorus Smart GGSN’s direct-tunnel capabilities can enable a flatter 3G network, appropriate for building true broadband network, that scales gracefully with traffic needs.

With flat 3G network,
•    The increase in data capacity per subscriber does not require additional investments in other network elements like SGSNs.
•    Cost of IP oriented transport could be low, with legacy ATM oriented SGSN’s out of the data path.
•    The simplified IP network scales much better to cater to higher performance needs.
•    Overall system latency is reduced, improving user experience.
•    Upgrading to LTE becomes a simpler step, as LTE also has an identical flat network architecture
•    Flat network architecture is 3GPP standards compliant, in Rel 7.  No new device interoperability is needed.

In essence, flat architecture combined with the very high performance WiChorus Smart GGSN, your 3G network would be ready to deal with mobile data’s exponential growth.  Transition to LTE's flat network becomes easier.
