San Jose, CA – May 28, 2008 – WiChorus, provider of the industry’s most scalable Intelligent Wireless Core Platforms for WiMAX™ and Long-Term Evolution (LTE) networks, today announced successful interoperability testing with top Taiwanese Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) Alpha Networks, III, and Tecom. These vendors join the One Open WiMAX initiative in demonstrating a single open R6 interface between their respective base station solutions and the WiChorus Access Service Node (ASN) Gateway solution based on the WiMAX Forum’s Network Working Group (NWG) specification. This successful interoperability testing demonstrates the power of an open ecosystem, bringing mobile operators a broader range of solutions with compelling overall economics. WiChorus’ Intelligent ASN Gateway and Home Agent for WiMAX have demonstrated inoperability with the following vendors: Alpha Networks – A leading networking ODM/OEM vendor, Alpha Networks has completed interoperability testing of its base station with the WiChorus ASN Gateway and Home Agent solution. “Alpha Networks is working with partners like WiChorus to provide our customers with a WiMAX environment that is optimized for service delivery,” said Douglas Hsaio, president of Alpha Networks. “Together, we offer our customers the flexibility to build out their infrastructure in a cost-effective fashion. WiChorus’ commitment to a truly open ecosystem is directly in line with our interoperability strategy. Through our partnership with WiChorus, we believe we have enhanced our value proposition to customers.” III – An organization leading the introduction of innovative information and communication technology into “III believes that offering a pre-integrated, pre-validated solution provides exceptional value to our base-station customers by decreasing their product development time and consequently their time to market,” said Dr. Pao-Chung Ho, Vice President and General Director of III’s Networks and Multimedia Institute (NMI). “By working with WiChorus to ensure open standards and complete interoperability, we can create a vendor-neutral environment that encourages companies to work together to create more efficient networks.” Tecom – A leading ODM/OEM supplier of networking equipment, Tecom has completed interoperability testing of its base station with the WiChorus ASN Gateway and Home Agent solution. “Tecom is working with partners like WiChorus to provide our customers with proven, interoperable WiMAX solutions,” said Dr. C. K. Liu, chairman of Tecom. “Together, we offer our International customers the flexibility to choose best–of-breed products when deploying their networks.” The One Open WiMAX initiative has accelerated the availability of WiMAX Forum-compliant infrastructure equipment, ensuring service providers have the option to combine best-of-breed equipment to build their networks. WiChorus is making the goal of an open ecosystem a reality through its participation in the WiMAX Forum and its industry-leading One Open WiMAX initiative. The goal of this initiative is to ensure fully open WiMAX standards, including the adoption of a single open R6 interface, and to demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability across the entire mobile ecosystem. With a standard, open R6 interface, mobile operators have the flexibility to choose from a large ecosystem of best-of-breed equipment, including base stations and ASN gateways. WiChorus will be demonstrating its WiMAX solutions June 2 through June 6 at the 2008 WiMAX Expo Taipei.
