WiChorus and Aptilo Networks Announce Successful Completion of WiMAX Interoperability Testing San Jose, CA, and Stockholm, January 22, 2008 –WiChorus, the developer of the industry’s most scalable and intelligent WiMAX core solutions, and Aptilo Networks today announced that they have completed interoperability testing (IOT) of WiChorus’ Intelligent ASN Gateway with Aptilo’s WiMAX CSN (Connectivity Service Network) SystemTM, the market’s first integrated solution for standards-compliant Mobile WiMAX AAA and Service Control. Testing of the WiChorus and Aptilo products was based on the WiMAX Forum’s NWG 1.0.0 specification. Successful interoperability demonstrates a significant step toward an open WiMAX ecosystem that promises greater flexibility for mobile operators and increased innovation and growth for the market as a whole. The testing was completed under WiChorus’ One Open WiMAX interoperability program and Aptilo’s WiMAX Multivendor ASN Interoperability Testing (MAIT) program. Both initiatives leverage testing to accelerate interoperability and promote open standards in the WiMAX ecosystem. “We are committed to working with leading, like-minded vendors in building robust WiMAX networks based on open standards,” said Johan Terve, vice president of marketing for Aptilo. “We established the MAIT program to encourage Interoperability, which ultimately increases the rate of WiMAX technology adoption and benefits everyone in the industry. We are delighted to be working with WiChorus in fostering that open environment.” Aptilo’s “MAIT certified” WiMAX solutions validate for service providers that the combined multivendor WiMAX solution has been interoperability tested from a service perspective and can be quickly and easily set up with limited effort and integration. The standards-compliant Aptilo WiMAX CSN System is an integrated, wireless broadband data- and voice-services solution for standards-compliant Mobile WiMAX AAA, policy management and service control. The unique multi-access support allows for management of services provided over WiMAX and Wi-Fi networks from within the same platform. “WiChorus and Aptilo are part of a larger consortium of companies dedicated to creating an open WiMAX ecosystem that encourages innovation and challenges the traditionally closed models that have restricted mobile operators in the past,” said Rehan Jalil, president and CEO of WiChorus. “By focusing on open network interfaces based on the WiMAX Forum’s NWG specification, we have accelerated the ability of operators to deploy large–scale, multi-vendor WiMAX networks that deliver intelligent, differentiated services.” WiChorus is driving open standards through its participation in the WiMAX Forum and its industry-leading One Open WiMAX initiative. The goal of this vendor-neutral initiative is to promote fully open WiMAX standards and demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability across the entire mobile ecosystem. As part of this initiative, WiChorus has invested significant R&D resources in developing technology to accelerate multi-vendor interoperability. WiChorus has developed an extensive family of test and simulation tools, an advanced test-lab facility and software components to assist vendors in delivering fully interoperable, open WiMAX solutions.
